If you’re one of those people who love distant views and the greatest possible privacy, penthouses are likely to appeal to you more than the average holiday apartment or town house Marbella has to offer. In some parts of the town plot sizes are quite small, so even if you did purchase a villa set in a private plot, you are unlikely to experience tranquillity and seclusion within a densely populated neighbourhood.

Exclusivity and privacy comes at a price in Marbella – villas with large plot sizes cost several million euros. However, penthouses offer fabulous views over sea and Sierra Blanca Mountains and offer all the privacy one could wish for a resale starting price of around EUR 185,000 for 2 to 3 bedroom penthouses. The more luxurious the finish, the greater the price! However, in some parts of Marbella and nearby resorts, there are 3 and 4-bed luxury penthouse and apartments on the market for less than EUR 500,000 that offer great creature comforts, excellent amenities within walking distance and fantastic views.

Calahonda, which is located a 20 minute drive from Malaga Airport, is situated roughly in the middle of Marbella and Fuengirola. If your budget doesn’t quite stretch to Marbella prices, this is a good area to look for your first penthouse purchase.
 
Cabopino Port is a little more expensive, as it is that much closer to Marbella, but it’s a great place to own a penthouse with 180 degree views over the marina and harbour – the typical resale penthouse or apartment in this part of Marbella will cost from just under EUR 500,000. Cabopino is located some 14 km west of Marbella and lies within an equal distance to Fuengirola.

Cabopino started life as a miniscule fishing village with its own harbour, but thanks to its luxurious marina and port it is now a sought-after residential neighbourhood for families. Here the beaches never get overcrowded, even in summer. With a wonderful natural park just on the doorstep, there’s so much to enjoy and do during the holidays, too.

Let your kids run wild among the sand dunes or go for an evening stroll among the fragrant pine trees and rolling hills of your own neighbourhood. If you’re after a life of freedom from “everything” – there’s even a nudist beach where naturists can enjoy sun, sea and sand without the restrictive influence of bathing costumes and shorts!

Best of all for golf players, if you buy an apartment or penthouse in Cabopino, there are two golf courses right on your doorstep. Offering unlimited golf during low season for a mere EUR 125 per player with buggy for a whole glorious 3 days, Cabopino Golf is one of many local amenities making the area popular with buyers. Located among shady pine trees in the hills perched high above the port and marina, the course tests all levels of handicap and experience and is rumoured to force golfers to use every club in their bag just to complete their round.

Long-term rentals of penthouses and apartments vary greatly from district to district and will depend as much on the size of the property and its luxurious interior finish as to the property’s proximity to sea and town centre. Start at the bottom with studios costing just under EUR 500 pcm and work your way up to typical newly built luxury apartments starting at around EUR 700. Penthouses cost from EUR 1,200 to EUR 2,500 pcm, depending on the number of bedrooms and the location.

Marbella, with its exclusive beach clubs, its high-end fashion outlets, 4 and 5-star boutique hotels and exciting nightlife is just a short drive away. Marbella is blessed with a plethora of amazing things one can do and see. From the great Selwo Marina and theme park ideal for families to Sohail Castle and the Basilica de Vega del Mar perfect for sightseers with an interest in Costa del Sol heritage, the area offers something for everybody.

Exert yourself at the Club de Tenis Puente Romano or be seen as a lady or gentleman of leisure at the Playa de la Bajadilla – Marbella holiday home owners are spoiled for choice!
