Discover eastern Marbella: Puerto Cabopino Beach and Marina
Puerto Cabopino and its marina are, in essence, a smaller version of Marbella's famous Puerto Banus marina complex, offering house hunters plenty of choice with regard to holiday homes and providing tourists with world-class amenities on their doorstep.
Situated between Marbella and Benalmadena, tranquil Cabopino and its marina are far less touristy than central Marbella and are often overlooked because the area is not immediately visible from the road. The harbour is set against a backdrop of pine-forested hills and mountain peaks shrouded in cloud cover in early morning and at dusk.
Offering excellent choice of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops, Cabopino's marina and seafront, beach and golf courses are mainly the playing ground of local residents and people who come to stay in their Marbella holiday homes for short periods during spring, summer and early autumn.
Cabopino started life as a fishing village, but is now a smart area brimming with well-appointed holiday apartments, permanent townhouse homes for young families and luxurious villas for retired expats. Set against a backdrop of impressive sand dunes, Cabopino Beach is thankfully still fairly unspoiled and little developed. However, Cabopino Golf and Santa Maria Golf in Elviria are just a short drive away.
The former fishing village is about 14 km to the east of Fuengirola and a mere 40 minute-drive from Malaga. The modern urbanizations of Calahonda and Elviria are close by, providing further shopping and dining out opportunities.

Seafood fans flock to Cabopino, which has a reputation of offering the best seafood dishes in Marbella to uphold.
Property in the Cabopino area starts at around 190,000 euros for a standard 2-bed, 2-bath apartments. Villas with 4 bedrooms costing around 1.9 million euros. Cabopino apartments feature access to communal gardens and swimming pools, sea views, are within walking distance of the village centre and within walking distance of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
Cabopino's lovely beaches don't attract hordes of tourists, even in summer it's never too busy. Beautifully situated by a natural park featuring sand dunes and pine forests, the peaceful fishing village is particularly popular with families. Marbella lies a mere 14 km distance to the west, ideal for holidaymakers developing a hankering for a better nightlife, greater selection of shops and more art galleries, sports venues, theatres and cinemas.
Eating Out in Cabopino
The Italian establishment of "Da Brunos" is just one of many fine dining restaurants in Cabopino that attracts celebrities. Seafood dominates the menus in this part of Marbella and Cabopino boasts a number of excellent beach bars that serve inexpensive snacks and lunchtime specials ideal for families on a budget.
Cabopino is a safe and family-friendly district of Marbella to live in all year round or for part of the year. With Malaga, central Marbella and Fuengirola so close by, it is possible to find a job, enrol in classes at college to change one's career and to have access to all forms of public transit for both regional and national areas. Apart from the 300 days of guaranteed sunshine, this is what makes the greater Marbella area so popular among holiday home buyers and relocators.
