In the week from 14th to 19th August Malaga Airport welcomed 300,000 air passengers alone. So far this year May, June, August and September have recorded historic high levels for visitors coming to Spain and the Costa del Sol it seems is still top dog with holidaymakers.
Speaking to the magazine SUR in English, air passengers arriving at Malaga Airport for yet another Costa del Sol holiday said what lured them back year after year was the great climate.
Sun worshippers simply love the fact that Marbella & Co. can guarantee a fortnight’s sunshine and domestic holidaymakers adore the cooler breeze, when they fly in from Spanish destinations like the capital.
“”It’s just too hot in the capital,” explained Félix Rios, who has just arrived from Madrid. “It’s good to get away in August. And whilst it’s still quite hot here, there’s always the sea and it’s a bit breezier.”
Other passengers are returning year after year because they have grown to love the place and like the fact that everything is now familiar. They know where to take the kids to a child-friendly restaurant that’s not too expensive, they have discovered which beach gets too crowded and which supermarket is best when the family goes food shopping for British goods – children are unfortunately fussy eaters who don’t like change in their diet, no matter how much Mum and Dad might like for them to try Spanish food instead.
For those fortunate people who own a holiday home in Marbella or elsewhere at the Costa del Sol there is the familiarity of the place and the friends they have already made on previous holidays, but there’s also the sheer variety of tourist attractions which seem to grow in number every year.
From visiting landmark historic buildings in Malaga to clubbing the night away in Marbella; there’s something for everybody’s taste, which makes this a fantastic place to own a holiday home. Other holiday destinations might become a little stale after visiting them for a number of years, but Marbella & Co. never disappoint on the entertainment scale.
