The Costa del Sol’s most glamorous resort boasts many different neighbourhoods and, depending on a buyer’s budget and what amenities a Marbella holiday home buyer is looking for, the town can deliver everything a place in the sun should be. If you are looking for your very own slice of paradise, Marbella’s El Paraiso district will be the place for you.

El Paraiso is one of Marbella’s most upmarket urbanisations and is located within a 10 minute drive of the town centre. It overlooks a beautiful valley and has a wealth of amenities to offer. Property prices are more expensive than in Elviria or Calahonda in the east of the Marbella but they do reflect the area’s exclusivity.

In El Paraiso the apartments, townhouses and villas come with good-sized plots, larger than life amenities and fantastic views. It’s a tranquil community of well-to-do tourists, permanent and semi-permanent residents; it is ruled by strict guidelines that allow El Paraiso’s urbanisation to remain pleasant and peaceful.

Upmarket amenities

In fact, the area has an exclusive four-star hotel that is a renowned health clinic. Here people looking for recuperation can relax and enjoy the hotel’s spa, wellness therapies and treatments. El Paraiso also has its own tennis club with five hard courts, a lawn bowls club and a spectacular 18-hole golf course that boasts its own club and hosts several tournaments every year, including a celebrity Prop-Am.

El Paraiso’s urban paradise includes a bank, several excellent restaurants, a travel agent and car rental operator, and a supermarket plus several other shops, a health clinic and various service providers. El Paraiso falls within the municipality of Estepona and is just an hour’s drive from both Malaga and Gibraltar’s airports.

Golfer’s paradise

Founded in 1973, El Paraiso Golf Club ranks as one of the Costa del Sol’s oldest golf courses and was designed by Gary Player. Against the backdrop of La Concha Mountain this 18-hole championship golf course boasts spectacular views across El Paraiso Valley and the Mediterranean Sea.

The international club welcomes new members, but day visitors and golf societies are also welcome to try out the El Paraiso Golf course’s fantastic range of amenities.

Arriving as a tourist

If you are considering buying a holiday home or permanent home in Marbella’s El Paraiso urbanisation, it’s a good idea to visit several times at different times of the year to see what is on offer. It’s easy to find self-catering accommodation, if you don’t wish to stay in a hotel.
 
The area also caters for people who wish to rent longer term and turn their holiday rentals into a winter residence for a few months. A luxury 4-bed villa sleeping up to 8 people and boasting landscaped gardens, swimming pool and fine golf views will cost from £172 per night. El Paraiso is just 2 km distance from Marbella’s golden sandy beaches.

Pricey but good value for money

For those who like what they see and want to make El Paraiso their permanent or semi-permanent home there is plenty of upmarket property available. A typical older style, second hand luxury villa with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, a sizeable plot of land and own swimming pool will typically start at an asking price of EUR 395,000, if located near the golf course and El Paraiso Hotel complex.
 
Modern properties designed along clean lines with large windows and air conditioning throughout will start at EUR 450,000 for a 3 to 4-bed property with garden and pool. It is not uncommon to find luxury villas costing around EUR 1.2 million in this upmarket neighbourhood.

However, compared to what similar properties would cost in Britain, at the Italian Riviera or the Côte d’Azur, Marbella’s El Paraiso property is good value for money, promising to provide investors with a good rental yield in the short term and capital gains long-term.
