Will you find your Place in the Sun in Cabo Pino?

May 21, 2014
Although not strictly speaking part of Marbella, the resort of Cabo Pino at the Costa del Sol is often classed as one of the town’s neighbourhoods. Blessed with a lovely little harbour and a beach that boasts fine sand and shallow waters ideal for holidays with children, Cabo Pino is a great place to buy a holiday home.

The resort has a smattering of excellent restaurants and bars, and is located approximately halfway between Marbella and Fuengirola, so still within an hour’s drive of both Malaga and Gibraltar airports. If you are looking to buy your very own place in the sun, you can’t go wrong with a Cabo Pino holiday home.

Things to do and see

Cabo Pino’s beach is legendary, offering sun worshippers endless white sands and shallow waters where they can go swimming, scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing, and windsurfing or enjoy boat trips and coastal excursions.

Families can have fun at local aqua parks, wildlife and theme parks and enjoy cable car rides with amazing views over the coastline or learn to play golf at several excellent 18-hole golf courses in the area. Hire a car or explore the pine forested coastline with pedal power and a picnic hamper on the back of your bike.

Holiday rentals

A typical 2-bed holiday apartment that sleeps 4 to 5 people will cost from 2350 to £700 per week, depending on proximity to golf courses or the sea front and beach. If you are hoping to stay throughout the winter, many private landlords will offer longer winter lets at reasonable prices, an ideal solution for those trying to decide if Cabo Pino is the right place to buy a holiday or permanent home. There is also a campsite adjacent to the main golf course for those who prefer to sleep under the stars and turn their stay into a mini-adventure for kids.

Amenities

If you fancy a night on the tiles with nightclubs, dancing and shows, Marbella is just a 12 km drive away.

Cabo Pino’s nightlife is friendly but less exuberant than Marbella’s. Local restaurants serve not just Spanish style cuisine - there are Italian, international and Chinese restaurants, too. Several lively bars make it easy to meet new friends but as this is a family resort, visitors won’t be subjected to the rowdy binge drinking crowds seen at less well behaved resorts.

Located just 14km distance from Fuengirola, Cabo Pino offers the best of all worlds for shoppers and night owls, for between them the three resorts have everything one could wish for, from exclusive beach clubs, 4 and 5 star hotels and spas to amusement parks, zoos and designer boutiques. Bathers and their children are protected by life-guards who are on duty throughout the summer.

Cabo Pino property

Unlike some of the resorts one finds at Spain’s Costa Blanca or Costa Brava, Cabo Pino is still very much a retreat, not a concrete jungle that looks like Manchester or Birmingham in the sun.

Cabo Pino, the Pine Cape, honours its name and is still flanked by pine forests and the natural beauty of sand dunes, rock formations and endless beach. Developments have been strictly controlled and not been allowed to spoil the lovely coastline. There are no tower blocks or urban jungles here, just pleasant villas and townhouses with gardens and small apartment developments set in landscaped grounds.

Living here is easy, for public transportation enables residents to hop on a local bus and visit Marbella and Fuengirola for a shopping trip or enjoy a day out exploring tourist attractions.

Cabo Pino Beach also boasts an old fortified watchtower that affords amazing views over the coast towards Marbella and Gibraltar. On a clear day one can see as far as the African coast.

It’s a great place to buy a holiday home, especially if you are looking for a mooring for your yacht, for Cabo Pino harbour boasts a marina large enough to moor 169 vessels.

Prices for a luxury four-bed villa with gardens and swimming pool start at around EUR 550,000. Luxury 3-bed apartments and townhouses start at around EUR 365,000 for new Cabo Pino properties. Older style 2 or 3-bed apartments in a good location with either sea or golf views cost around EUR 200,000 and often come complete with furniture.
