Add a little Glamour to your Marbella Holiday
You've done the Malaga sightseeing tour, you've hiked up and down the Sierra Blanca, you've have tumbled down slides in local water parks, have watched dolphins and tasted tapas in Marbella Old Town - now what?
For those with a Costa del Sol holiday home it can sometimes feel as if there are few attractions left to discover. Look closely though and you'll find there are still plenty of things to be explored.
Why not spice up your Marbella holiday with some glamorous activities for a change? Treat yourself to dance classes, Spa days, yoga retreats or cocktail making! Live a little during your holiday, it's not an endurance race, where you have to tackle mountains, dive down to shipwrecks or jet-ski along the coast as if your life depended on it. Marbella offers an abundance of activities that are relaxing and fun.
Shaken, not stirred!
Operator Hens & Stags in Marbella offer cocktail making lessons and tasting experiences that will turn you into a glamour-puss for a couple of hours. Tom Cruise wannabes can learn how to mix Long Island Ice Tea to impress traditional gals or smooth Manhattans for sophisticated socialites of their acquaintance. Learn cocktail-making terminology and the different types of aperitifs you could offer your guests at the next garden party by the pool of your holiday villa.
The lesson includes a welcome drink and nibbles to keep you sober-ish, a short talk on the history of cocktails, demonstrations and interactive cocktail making and tastings of contemporary and classic cocktails. Here's your chance to discover how to mix a delicious Strawberry Daiquiri, Cosmopolitan or a Mojito strong enough to take granddad's socks off!
Price per person is around 40.00 Euros and everyone gets to mix three cocktails during the two-hour session. These lessons are available all year round and a great way to spend a couple of hours with friends or in-laws.
Shake a Leg Hollywood-style
Now that the drinks are sorted out, it's time to don the sequins and high-heels and learn how to do some funky dance routines. The same operator also offers dance lessons with a special guest instructor flown in all the way from Los Angeles.
Impress your family and friends at the next get-together, when you're dancing like Travolta or twirling like Olivia Newton-John. Learn how to have fun on the dance floor, instead of floundering the moment disco-tunes come on. Using a top choreographer who has helped stars to learn how to dance, the dance tuition teaches students in simple segments how to dance like a pop star on the telly. It's a great way to get some exercise, much more fun than going to the gym.
A welcome drink is included in the one-hour sessions, which take place all year round on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Price per person around 35.00 Euros for the Hollywood Dance Routine experience.
Jive with the Best of them
Ballroom dancing has become fashionable again and for those with an eye to going out in grand style in Marbella it's not a bad idea to learn how to foxtrot, tango or jive. Modern jive dance classes are offered by Marbella-based JiveSpain, who have taught more than 1,000 people over the past few years how to shake a leg and look impressive. Participants must be over 16 years old and should wear shoes with smooth soles, which make jive dancing a lot easier. Join with or without a partner. Lessons start at 8.15 pm start every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
On Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays jive enthusiasts gather to show off their new skills and there are no lessons. This glorious fun lasts about 2.5 hours and costs around 10.00 Euros per person for the evening. It's a wonderful night out, where one can make new friends in Marbella and learn something new at the same time. Surprisingly, the average age per session is between 25 and 35, not 55 to 75, as it would have been just a few years ago, before TV programme Strictly Come Dancing hit British screens with a vengeance.
